Liberty's Way is currently taking donations for The William Evans House Fund.
Bill Evans, a respected serviceman and Veteran of the United States Navy, recently passed away in Warren County. Bill was a longstanding member of the North Warren Volunteer Fire Dept., serving the community as an ambulance Chief and firetruck driver, and worked as well at the local Walmart in the tire and lube dept. In recent times Bill volunteered his services in Lander at Liberty's way Church of Christ. Bill enjoyed spending his time there in the mechanics shop, which is utilized to repair cars for Veterans, and for Vets who enjoy the work of auto mechanics in general. Bill also enjoyed the social time he spent there with other Veterans and volunteers, and helping with holiday meals, and the Annual Freedom Run festival that takes place at the end of August each year.
In his passing, Bill was survived by his wife Linda Evans, who is now raising their four young grandchildren on her own. Liberty's Way has sent volunteers to their home to assess the condition of the property, and found it to be in quite a state of disrepair. In honor of Bill's service to our Country and Community, It seems pertinent and necessary to fix this state of affairs, and provide his widow and grandchildren with a safe, and comfortable home to live in.
The work to be done includes repairing the sink, cabinets, and sinking floor in the kitchen; insulating and dry walling the laundry room and living room; repairing the floor in the entryway; repairing a leaking roof; and replacing the plumbing in the bathroom. Liberty's Way has several volunteers that are capable and prepared to accomplish these tasks, however, the funding for the materials is short at hand
If you would like to contribute to this cause, in honor of Bill's life and service to our Country, you can donate at any PNC Bank location to the “Liberty's Way William Evans House Fund”, or mail a check in the same name to Liberty's Way Church of Christ, 4519 Miller Hill Rd, Russell, PA 16345.
